- Hi Guys
- First of all, I do use Win95 and I like it. It's much better than
- Windows 3.1 (interface, performance, resources). I've seen little of
- OS/2 (there's not much to see anyway), and I didn't like it. I
- installed it once (OS/2 2.1), and was crashing more than Windows 3.1
- at the time, so I took it off.
-
- I know that Warp is better than OS2 2.1 but I never gave it a try.
- Why? Well because there are no native applications for it. And when
- I say applications, I mean something like Adobe Pagemaker, Corel draw
- (OS/2 has Corel Version 3.0) 6.0, Borland Delphi.... (I'm not even
- going to mention the Microsoft Apps, because I know you just hate
- them). When OS/2 people say they have 2500 apps, most of these apps
- are basically Shareware, nothing major (except from IBM). A lot of
- people are talking about how good Warp is, maybe it is better than
- Windows 95 (maybe much better), but you don't just buy an OS to just
- look at it, you want to run applications, many applications, many
- native applications.
-
- I also think that OS/2 interface is too hard for a lot of users.
- For example when I try to access Drive A (with no disk in it), I get a
- popup message asking me if I wanted to return an Error Code to the
- program or to do something else; Why? Just tell me that there's no
- disk in Drive A? Also, I really think that you need at least 16 MB
- Ram (just like 95) to get an acceptable performance from Warp.
-
- Now, for the future, there is nothing better than Windows NT. I
- have a pentium 90 (16 MB Ram) so I'm stuck on 95 for today (tommorrow
- I'm going to get my Pentium Pro 200). But I think NT has it all, the
- stability, the performance (Alpha's, Power PC's and Pentium Pro's),
- and now the applications.
-
- And why don't you (Team OS/2) just go back to your comp.os.os2.bugs
- where you belong.... I'm tired of hearing you all over the internet
- talking about how good is IBM and Warp and how bad is Microsoft is.
-
- One more thing, people complain that MS bundled MSN into 95! I
- tried running a telnet application from Warp once and it gave me a
- messgae box asking me if I wanted to connect to an IBM internet
- provider although I was already connected through my ISP.......
